Daughters of Dixie’s sunny land,

Strew ye with kind and tender hand

These flowers upon the soldier’s grave

Who died this once bright land to save.

Lauderdale Albumen

Though lost the cause in which he fell,

His deeds ye ne’er can love too well;

Too high an honor ne’er can show

To him whose dust now sleeps below.

Garrett Stone Albumen

Maids and matron, place here a flower,

And thank God for this sacred hour;

Bless Him, that though of much bereft,

Pride in your bosoms still is left.
